Daughter
of the Sea-Hannah by Kathryn Lasky is a good fiction book for teenagers, from
12 years old to above. This book is about a girl named Hannah who gets land sick
instead of seasick and become physically ill when she is far away from sea. She
leaves a ring of salt in the tub when she bathes. Hannah. Hannah works for a
wealthy family in Boston at the end of 19th century: the Hawley family. One day
a famous painter came to paint portraits for the whole family, he spotted
Hannah's secret but don't want to tell Hannah the answer. Hannah had to find
out her true identity through adventures and hide the secret of her identity
from her master. At last, she had to make a choice of being a land creature or
a sea one- a mermaid!
This
book will be good for people who loves fantasy or adventures and maybe
historical fiction. It clearly shows the emotion of a 15 year old girl who want
to discover the true identity of herself, but also trying to keep it away from
her master and colleagues and how she has done it step by step but need to face
a harsh choice to herself of whether be staying with who she loved or with her
family who she haven't met at all.
A girl who wants 'to discover the true identity of herself'; I like how you have uncovered the main idea or theme present in the novel! :)
