1984 is a 'science fiction' novel by George Orwell. The reason behind the quotation marks is because the book was published before this time meaning that this book was science fiction for its time. To us it is like reading about the past.
I like the story but Idislike the ending. The story revolves around Winston in a world without freedom of thought. One quote that popped up a lot was, "Big Brother is watching you..." which basically means that the 'government' is watching you. I like the story as it shows how this society 'alters' history. If a mistake was made, the government would fix the mistake by changing the records from everywhere. There really weren’t any laws besides that you aren’t allowed to do 'thoughtcrime'. Thoughtcrime is a crime of freedom of thought. Becoming ‘unorthodox’ as the book stated. If you said things like, "Down with Big Brother" or you twitched or acted in a rebellious manner the government would pick this up through their telescreens and then punish you by either making you work in labor camps or by 'vanishing' you.
I would recommend this book but if people don’t like narrative twists then don’t read this as there is a really big one in there.
